Reflective listening primary resource for all ages. Every week, get your class to review a song they have listened to (either at home or in class). This is great for a cross-curricular link between English & Music that helps your children really think about & explore the music they’re listening to. This encourages active listening in your classroom, so not just letting the music wash over your childrens ears, but actively reflecting on the music & listening to what each song is saying.

Active listening promotes mindful listening, which can reduce anxiety and depression in students. It can also help students build relationships because as they engage themselves in listening and conversation, their peers are more likely to view them as open. Finally, practicing active listening can promote empathy, a skill that can enrich a student’s life both in and outside of the classroom.
